How Exeter Electrical Services Works

We are a booking and referral service. We connect you with vetted, NICEIC-registered local electricians — we do not carry out the work ourselves.

Important transparency note

Exeter Electrical Services is a booking and referral broker. The engineer who attends your property is an independent, NICEIC-registered contractor — not an employee of Exeter Electrical Services. The booking deposit you pay confirms your appointment slot. The contractor provides a quote and collects payment for the electrical work directly.

For Customers

1

Call us on 01392 703127

Tell us what electrical problem you have and where you are located. Our booking team will ask a few qualifying questions to understand the nature and urgency of the work.

We will confirm that we can help and check contractor availability in your area. For emergencies, this happens quickly. For planned work, we will discuss available appointment slots.

2

We confirm a vetted engineer

We match your request with an available, NICEIC-registered engineer from our panel of vetted local contractors. We check their registration, insurance, and availability.

For emergency callouts, we aim to confirm an engineer within 15–30 minutes. For planned work, we will provide several appointment options.

3

Pay your booking deposit

Once an engineer is confirmed, we send a secure payment link to your phone by text. Paying the booking deposit locks in your appointment slot.

The booking deposit is separate from the cost of the electrical work itself. It is the fee for the confirmation and dispatch service. When you call, we will be clear about the deposit amount before you pay.

4

Your engineer arrives and carries out the work

Your NICEIC-registered engineer arrives at the confirmed time. They introduce themselves, assess the work, and provide you with a clear quote before starting.

Payment for the work itself is made directly to the engineer when the job is complete. They accept payment by card, bank transfer, or cash — the engineer will confirm their payment methods.

5

Work is certified and documented

Where required (consumer unit replacement, new circuits, EICR), the engineer provides all relevant compliance documentation — certificates, reports, and Building Regulations notification.

For Landlords and Letting Agents

Landlords and letting agents can use our service for both planned compliance work and urgent reactive maintenance. The process is the same as for individual customers, with some additional options:

Portfolio bookings

If you have multiple properties requiring EICRs, you can book them all in one call. We will schedule inspections across your portfolio, provide all compliance documentation, and flag any properties requiring remedial works.

Tenant coordination

We can liaise with tenants directly for access arrangements where needed, saving you time and reducing the chance of missed appointments.

Compliance documentation

All reports and certificates are provided directly to you as the landlord. For EICRs, we can provide copies in the format required for your records and for your tenants.

Emergency protocol for tenanted properties

When a tenant reports an urgent fault, call us and we will arrange an emergency callout. We keep you informed at each stage, from engineer confirmation to job completion.

Our Contractor Panel

Every contractor on our panel has passed our vetting process before their first job. Here is how we vet contractors:

NICEIC/NAPIT registration verified

We check that every contractor holds current NICEIC or NAPIT registration before they join our panel.

Public liability insurance

A minimum level of public liability insurance is required for all contractors on our panel.

Annual re-verification

Contractor registrations are re-checked annually to ensure they remain current.

Performance monitoring

Customer feedback is monitored. Contractors who do not meet our standards are removed from the panel.

Contractors work with us because we provide confirmed, qualified appointments with no marketing costs. We vet the customer, confirm the job scope, and ensure the engineer arrives prepared. It saves contractors time and allows them to focus on the work rather than chasing enquiries.
